About

Artist Renate du PlessisRenate du Plessis is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Scone, New South Wales, Australia. Born in South Africa, she immigrated to Australia in 2017.
With a lifelong passion for animals, particularly evident in her detailed depictions of wildlife, horses, and domestic pets, her work captures the intricate textures of fur, expressive eyes, and the unique character of her subjects.
Her signature style features a minimalist approach, often presenting subjects without background distractions to create an intimate, soulful focus on the animal/subject itself.
Du Plessis has worked on commissions since the age of 16. In September 2024, she transitioned to a full-time artistic career after more than 20 years in the thoroughbred industry. She continues to explore new subjects as well as different mediums as she continues to grow as an artist.
